Anchor

Permanent by design.

Digital art should outlast the platform it was sold on. Anchor stores your artworks locally and keeps them available on IPFS and Arweave, so they don’t disappear when a platform does.

What it does

Finds your artworks

Add a wallet address and Anchor finds the images, video and code behind each token, on Ethereum, other EVM chains and Tezos.

Keeps a copy

Your artworks are stored on a device you own and kept available on IPFS. Works that live on Arweave are cached too.

Shows what is at risk

For every work, Anchor shows how many other places hold it, so you can see which pieces depend on a single host.

Free and open source

Anchor is free to use and its code is open for anyone to read, run and improve. There is no account and no subscription.

The beta version is on our GitLab page and is currently being tested.

Where we are going

  1. In progress

    Beta testing

A first group of collectors and artists runs Anchor on their own computers and tells us what breaks.

  2. Done

    First collections restored

The first NFT collections that lost their files have been flagged and restored through Anchor.

  3. Planned

    Artist nodes

Artists run their own Anchor and choose which works to keep. Their selection is public, so other nodes can help hold the work.

  4. Next

    Plug and play devices

Ready-made devices you plug in and forget. First a hard disk with Anchor already installed, then a small computer that runs day and night.

  5. Planned

    An independent foundation

A neutral home for Anchor, with museums, universities, collectors and others at the table, so no single company or chain controls it.

Plans change as we learn from testers.
